”I think my biggest mistake is me not being able to be myself for a long time. It had to do with alot of things, but I kinda lost the person who I was and am. I know people change and you will never be the same as five years ago. But not being authentic and not being able to express yourself is the worst feeling. I overcame alot of insecurities by motivating myself to think outside of the box and not let others get in my head. The best person who knows how to be me is me!”

1. Who are you?

I am Rahma Mohamed Mohamed Mahamoud Yusuf. Im *sigh* 26 years old and I live in The Hague, The Netherlands.
I study Dutch law and hopefully will graduate in Global International Law. No, I do not desire to be a lawyer, but more to be a legal advisor for refugees. And I also work fulltime as an objection employee for the tax collectors office.

2. What is your deepest intention?
As corny as this may sound, I would love to make this world a better place, especially for the younger ones. How u may wonder? Well, I think there is a start for everything, so I also do voluntary service within the Somali community. Especially when it comes to refugees.  My biggest dream is to do voluntary service in Somalia, where I also would like to build an orphan home.

3. What is your deepest fear?
Which one lol, I have a lot of fears. But the deepest fear is to be inadequate in this life and the here after. I would want to dedicate my life not to become a succesfull careerwoman, but to become a individual who can mean a lot in other people’s life, especially the less fortunate ones. And to not complete my religious journey in this life.

4. What does love mean to you?
I believe love has different meanings to people. For example my name is Rahma which often is rendered as mercy. But Rahma and mercy have two totally different meanings. Mercy is often being used in a way where one can be harmed and asks for mercy, thus not to harm that person.  In islam Rahma has a totally different meaning : “love and kindness to one another, and even a beast treats her young with affection.” here Rahma is referred to as a mother’s love which is the most natural and purest form of love. Rahm also means family ties in Arabic. God created us and shows us that form of love. Love is a very general term in modern English – we speak not only of “nurturing love,” but also “platonic love,” “romantic love,” “desirous love,” the “love of food,” and the “love of money.” These all signify different forms of “love. So, to make a long story short, to me love means that Rahmah love, that natural love which God placed in our hearts and that explains our tears and pain and most of all, our pure love.

5. What is the biggest mistake you made in your life and how gave you overcome it?
I think my biggest mistake is me not being able to be myself for a long time. It had to do with alot of things, but I kinda lost the person who I was and am. I know people change and you will never be the same as five years ago. But not being authentic and not being able to express yourself is the worst feeling. I overcame alot of insecurities by motivating myself to think outside of the box and not let others get in my head. The best person who knows how to be me is me!

6. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

I’m proud of doing my studies, having a fulltime job and ofcourse being a helping hand to others when needed.

7. How would your best friend describe you?

I think they would decribe me as a funny, mentally unstable person lol. No seriously, I joke alot but I think my best friends would describe me as a nice person (sometimes too nice) who always considers other people’s feelings.

8. What’s the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I have ever received is to look for happiness in the darkest places. Even if your battling alot of issues, to keep seeing that light at the end of the tunnel. After all there is always an ending to everything. Even the life you are living right now (ok that might sound a bit creepy lol).

9. How would you like to be remembered?

I would looooove to be remembered as a kind hearted individual who helped alot of people on their journey and made it easier on them.

”To love and be loved is one of the most beautiful things about being human to me (I could also talk about love, in general, for hours). This question is not difficult but rather I’m struggling here because words are so limiting! Ah, what does love mean to me… love is selfless, brave, genuine and most of all breathtakingly kind.”

1. Who are you?

My name is Nimco. Also Nima. And also Kaltun lol but you can call me Nima. I live in the UK and I am 21 years old. I’m currently studying to be a Learning Disabilities Nurse and I am hoping to qualify next year inshaaAllaah. You know what… I think I have been answering what I am instead of who I am. This is hard!

2. What is your deepest intention?

The only thing I really want is to become the type of person that I know I have the potential to be, inshaaAllah

3. What is your deepest fear?

My deepest fear is gradually turning away from Allah swt and never quite finding my way back to Him again. We take being able to seek His pardoning lightly but what if one day the ability to repent is taken away from us? Gives me chills..

 4. What does love mean to you?

To love and be loved is one of the most beautiful things about being human to me (I could also talk about love, in general, for hours). This question is not difficult but rather I’m struggling here because words are so limiting! Ah, what does love mean to me… love is selfless, brave, genuine and most of all breathtakingly kind.

5. What is the biggest mistake you made in your life and how gave you overcome it?

I have to admit, I had to really think about this question. And this is not because I live a mistake-free life. Far from it in fact! Rather, and I have come to the conclusion lol, I think it’s because every mistake that felt big and a complete disaster at the time turned out to be not so… bad? Basically, I’ve always moved on from it and if I’m lucky, learnt from it. Alhamdulillah. I’ve made a ton of unwise decisions in the past but because they were mine I cannot be mad at anyone but me. Experience is also my best teacher so alhamdulilah. I know my biggest regret some day however will be wasting precious time.

6. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

This may sound sad but nothing worldly related comes to mind. I am proud of the way I have learnt to deal with situations or people. I am proud of being able to still see the brighter side of things. I am proud of coming closer to being completely true to myself, every day. But my most proudest accomplishment? I don’t know. I think it is yet to come.

7. How would your best friend describe you?

I wasn’t too sure on what to say to this question without it sounding biased and so I asked my best friend and I got a surprising yet very lovely response but to summaries lol – “non judgmental, adheres to confidentiality, easy to talk to about anything and everything”

8. What’s the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I have received (well, the one that sticks with me most and I always seem to remember vividly) is “Don’t let fear get in the way of ruining something that has the potential to be amazing.” Exactly like that! Word for word! I don’t think the person who has said to this me even knows the impact those words have had on me. Especially seeing as we are no longer in touch.

9. How would you like to be remembered?

I want to be remembered for good things so that after my passing if I was to cross the mind of an individual, they’d make dua for me. So naturally and effortlessly.
