TALK TUESDAY #1

Hello beloveds,

Today is the kick start of a new Talk Tuesday series on my new blog. This week I would like to introduce you to two beautiful souls who inspire me: Sagal and Liyah. Personally I loved reading their answers to the 9 quite deep questions of Talk Tuesday and I hope you guys will too. So, grab a cup of tea and enjoy!

Sagal

“Love to me is when we cross barriers that insulate us from each other. When we can view past the egos and selfishness to see the beauty in someone else. Love to me is unconditional, selfless and infinite.”

  1. Who are you?

I’d like to define myself as a female intrigued by culture. Someone who draws from culture and not just my own. Someone that’s deeply in love with God and love itself.

  1. What is your deepest intention?

My deepest intention is to be the person I will be happy to be in eternity.

  1. What is your deepest fear?

My deepest fear is for the Al-Mighty to be displeased with me. I don’t think I have a fear bigger than that.

  1.  What does love mean to you?

Love to me is when we cross barriers that insulate us from each other. When we can view past the egos and selfishness to see the beauty in someone else. Love to me is unconditional, selfless and infinite.

  1. What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made in your life and how have you overcome it?

The biggest mistake I made when I was younger was comparing my blessings to others, if it was simply an observation, that would be one thing But in comparing myself to others I often ended up judging myself, it took me a while to realise that only Allah can judge me, who am I to take His place and judge myself? And the thing about comparison is that there is never a win. How often do we compare ourselves with someone less fortunate than us and consider ourselves blessed? Never right? We tend to compare ourselves with someone who we perceive as being, having, or doing more – and that itself is toxic. My advice to others currently in that state of mind, is stop whilst your ahead, because let me tell you, you’ll only end up being more ungrateful to the One who gave you so much.

  1. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

My biggest accomplishment was making my parents proud of me when I finished university. I personally wouldn’t have gone to university, but my parents were so big on that. So I ended up doing that for them, and to my surprise I resulted in doing it for me too. So I’m glad I made it happen. I’m grateful.

  1. How would your best friend describe you?

CRAZY! I bet that’s how she would describe me, oh and weird cause I tend to laugh at my own jokes in which ultimately makes her laugh to.

  1. What’s the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I have received was to stay humble and appreciative. My mother has also always taught me to be grateful for every situation I go through, whether it be good or bad, as there’s always a lesson in it. And guess what? She was right all along. They always are you know? Mother’s – they always know best. Hold on to them.

  1. How would you like to be remembered?

You never know when your time will come – and because of that I would like to remembered in a positive way for doing something that mattered to me the most. I would like to remembered as a confident cultural and God-fearing being.

“My deepest intention in life is to be able to change and help at least ONE person’s life, for the better. To be able to be there for people when they most need it. What’s life without helping one another? “
  1. Who are you?

My name is Aliya Dirie, I am 23 years old and currently studying at University. I live in two countries and I want to move to a third one in shaa Allah. I am the type of person that puts peoples needs before mine, I’ll do anything in my power to make the people I love happy. I am the responsible one, I am the mother, the nuturer and also the person that loves taking care of everyone, I try my best.

  1. What is your deepest intention?

My deepest intention in life is to be able to change and help at least ONE person’s life, for the better. To be able to be there for people when they most need it. What’s life without helping one another?

  1. What is your deepest fear?

To be completely honest, for my mother and my father to be disappointed in me, I cannot take it. They cared for me since the day I was born, the least I can do is to please them and make something good out of my life and at least show them I appreciate them, I know I’ll never be able to repay them for the sacrifices they have made, especially my mother, but my goal is to be there for her and make her happy for the rest of the time I have on this planet.

  1. What does love mean to you?

Love means a lot of things to me, but I believe, loyalty and understanding and appreciation are the main ones. Being able to love one another unconditionally, because we are all perfectly and beautifully flawed, this is what makes each of us unique.

  1. What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made in your life and how have you overcome it?

I don’t believe in mistakes, I believe in life lessons, I have learned different lessons in life, some the hard way, some the easy way. A very personal incident happend and I believe I acted on feelings and not facts, the lesson learned from that is ‘Never reply when angry, never make a promise when you’re happy and never make a decision when you’re sad.’

  1. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

The day i turned 19 and made the decision to move away from home and follow my dreams, it was the most scary thing I have ever done, but today I am so so proud of myself for taking that step. More and more doors are opening and I don’t have one dream I have several and I see the light at the end of the tunnel, alhamdulillah, Allah is great and with prayers and faith I have gotten really far in life, I am forever thankful and blessed alhamdulillah.

  1. How would your best friend describe you?

Oh God we need to ask her lol, hmm she would probably say kind hearted, uplifting, has a big heart, always sees the good in people and also funny and a bit stubborn and very straight forward.

  1. What’s the best advice you ever received?

Dust the dirt off your clothes and the tears of your beautiful face and get back up because you can (said by my beloved mother, she forever picks me back up <3)

  1. How would you like to be remembered?

A person that was kind hearted and loved helping people and that some people believe that I changed their life for the better <3
